Anyone know what the result of the EU vote on this was?

Things seem to have gone very quiet since the weekend!

Damned if I know why this is currently such big news - but it's been illegal to carry most knives in the UK for many years. All switchblades, most locking knives, most long blades, etc. have beem illegal for umpteen years and nobody seems to have a huge problem with it. You can still carry basic penknives up to 2" or so blade, use craft knives and the type of knife used to open cartons, etc.

I carry one of these, so that would be right out.

I do still find this all quite odd, viewing it from the outside.

To carry without a specific reason (other than self-defence). You can still buy a large kitchen knife (if you are over 18?) and carry it home, or take your sword to a re-enactment event.

(But flick knives and butterfly knives have stricter rules, IIRC.)
