Waitrose currently has an offer on various Marmite-related products - Marmite itself, Marmite flavour rice cakes, Marmite cereal bars, and something called Marmite XO which appears to be extra-strong "vintage" Marmite. I like Marmite, so I thought I'd try them.

Had a pack of the rice cakes a few days ago, they weren't too bad; like eating insulation foam with marmite flavouring, which is better than rice cakes on their own.

Tried the cereal bars today - unfortunately the best thing I can say about them is that they are disgusting. As in I couldn't finish one, neither could the technician I'm working with this week. There's something about the combination of flavours that really puts me off.

Now I'm wondering if I should risk XO, given that it's quite expensive. Anyone tried it yet?

Thanks Looking at these replies, I think I'll pass on it - I'm trying to cut down on salt if anything.

I ate some XO on toast for the first time ever on Sunday. Some people were warning me not to have much so I put very little on my bread.

Seemed ok. A bit more marmitey. I can't see that it is worth the extra cost.

PS I still haven't finished the marmite chocolate I was given for Christmas. Maybe I should give up on it.
